Fashion has always had an idea of what a body is supposed to look like.
Straight. Symmetrical. Proportional. Uncomplicated.
Real bodies didn't get the memo.
Some of us are crooked. Some are scarred. Some have disabilities, chronic conditions or bodies that don't quite work as expected.
Some things you can see. Some things you can't.
That's normal.
A PERSONAL THING.
Living with a disability has given me my own perspective on bodies, difference and the expectations people place on us.
I wanted to create something that approached those things differently. Less pity. Less pretending. More honesty, humour and clothes I'd actually want to wear.
That's where Wonky Body Club comes in.
PERFECTLY IMPERFECT.
We make good clothes, weird graphics and occasionally questionable jokes for imperfect humans.
Disability is part of that. So are scars, invisible conditions, asymmetry, life's setbacks and bodies that have changed along the way.
We don't think any of that needs to be boring.
MORE THAN CLOTHES.
Wonky Body Club was built around the idea that every body has a story.
We want to support the people and organisations working to make life better for disabled people.
That's why we're working towards giving back to the disability community as WBC grows.
